WCS’s Support of The World Central Kitchen

The World Central Kitchen

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) uses the power of food to heal communities and strengthen economies in times of crisis and beyond. WCK has created a new model for disaster response through its work helping devastated communities recover and establish resilient food systems. WCK has served more than 50 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world in countries including The Bahamas, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mozambique, Venezuela, and the United States.

About WCK’s Disaster Relief Work

When disaster strikes, WCK’s Chef Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. Deploying a model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK is able to respond to multiple disasters at once — often on opposite ends of the world.

By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of food trucks or emergency kitchens, WCK provides freshly made, nutritious meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. WCK knows that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

WCK's COVID-19 Relief Efforts

As we endure this COVID-19 pandemic, WCK has activated thousands of restaurants and kitchens to feed marginalized and vulnerable communities and our brave medical professionals on the front lines. WCK’s program attacks the growing hunger and economic crises on two fronts by paying local restaurants to cook fresh meals for their neighbors in need—at the same time getting food to hungry people and keeping restaurants and their teams open and working

WCS has taken an initiative to help remedy food scarcity issues that the US is facing due to COVID-19 and will donate $1.00 per account placed by all of its customers to the World Central Kitchen.
